I am updating my trusty ol' PC (which was running Win XP for a number of years) with an ASUS P5GD1 mobo to Win 7 (SP1).
The update has gone well and now Win 7 is up and running and I have updated the OS, tweaked the Realtek HD audio and Geforce 9900 drivers - mainly everything is working OK, external USB drives, DVD drive, etc..
In Device Manager I have an 'error' (exclamation mark) for Mass Storage Controller - not sure what this controls and if it's really needed but..
- I have a 2nd internal 'IDE' hard drive (the C drive is a SATA) and when booting the BIOS appears to see the IDE drive but when Win 7 is running I can't find that drive - so I'm guessing it has something to do with the Mass Storage Controller issue.. ??
Welcome any advice, suggestions and education..
Cheers
P.S. FYI - When I reboot into Win XP after swapping out the Win 7 SATA drive and putting back in the orig Win XP drive I am able to see IDE drive in Explorer - so I'm sure there is nothing wrong with that drive..

Mass storage controller Greetings, I am running Windows 7 Professional x64 on my HP Pavilion zd8000 laptop. I am looking for a driver for the mass storage controller. Jan 2, 2013 - Dell has not tested Windows 8 Operating system on Studio 1747. However you may try installing the Chipset driver which is Windows 7.
